Hawaii broadcasting has lost another legend.

Longtime sportscaster Les Keiter has died.

He died of natural causes at Castle Medical Center late Tuesday afternoon.

He would have been 90-years-old in just weeks.

His career took him everywhere from New York to San Francisco and of course Hawaii.

He was on the air for more than 50 years -- sitting side-by-side with Joe Moore for most of his years on air in the islands.

He gained fame with his re-creation of baseball games and even covered some of the biggest boxing event s in sports history. He even had a role on Hawaii 5-0, a military appropriate for "the general".

His last interview with KHON2 covered the topic of slugger Barry Bonds and steroids.

He retired after 50 years.

Through it all, family was his priority including his loving wife, Lila, who told us she and other family were at his side.

He leaves behind five children and many grandchildren.

Les Keiter would have turned 90-years-old on April 27th.

He had battled dementia in recent months.
